Lachrimae Consort entertains
The Lachrimae early music Consort celebrates the Shakespeare anniversary with music and readings from his plays. The Bard’s plays are full of music, instruments and singing.
The six musicians of Lachrimae are all expert in the music of Shakespeare’s time. They recreate the sound of Elizabethan theatre music with original instruments and perform some of the beautiful songs used in the first performances over 400 years ago. Lachrimae is joined by two actors to link the music with highly entertaining scenes and readings from the plays.
This group has always been popular in Leicester and the Leicester Mercury said “The six members of the Lachrimae Consort play with impressive unanimity and produce a pleasingly mellifluous sound. This Midlands-based group invariably offers attractive, entertaining and well-researched programmes”.
